Match Cards — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 August 2026
This policy explains how Bent Oak Systems Ltd ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the mobile game Match Cards (the "Game"), available on Google Play. We are the data controller for the purposes of the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR.
In short: the Game does not ask you to create an account and we do not collect your name, email address, or contact details. The Game shows advertisements supplied by Google AdMob, and the advertising system collects device-level information in order to serve and measure those adverts. Your game progress stays on your device.
Information collected by the Game itself
The Game stores your progress, scores, and settings locally on your device. This information is not transmitted to us and is not accessible to us. It is removed when you uninstall the Game.
We do not operate user accounts, we do not run our own analytics or servers for the Game, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, photographs, contacts, or precise location.
Information collected by our advertising partner
The Game uses Google AdMob to display banner, interstitial, and rewarded adverts. To serve, cap, measure, and protect the integrity of those adverts, Google may collect and process:
- your device's advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID);
- device and app information, such as device model, operating system version, language, and the app you are using;
- your IP address, from which an approximate (city or region level) location may be derived;
- information about your interaction with adverts, such as impressions, clicks, and rewards earned.
Google acts as an independent controller for this processing. Its handling of the data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy, and you can read how Google uses information from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Your choices about advertising
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the Game presents a consent request before personalised adverts are shown, using Google's User Messaging Platform.
- If you consent, adverts may be personalised using the information described above.
- If you decline, you will still see adverts, but they will be non-personalised — selected on the basis of general context rather than your interests.
- You can change your mind at any time using the privacy options available in the Game's settings.
Independently of the Game, you can reset or delete your advertising identifier, or opt out of personalised advertising entirely, in your device settings under Settings → Google → Ads on Android.
Legal bases for processing
Where personalised advertising is shown to users in the UK, EEA, or Switzerland, the legal basis is your consent, gathered through the in-app consent request and withdrawable at any time. Where non-personalised advertising is shown, and for the detection of invalid traffic and advertising fraud, the legal basis is our and our partner's legitimate interests in funding and protecting a free game.
Sharing and retention
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone other than Google in its capacity as our advertising provider. We ourselves receive only aggregated, non-identifying performance reports from AdMob, such as total impressions and revenue. Retention of the underlying advertising data is determined by Google in accordance with its own policies.
Children
The Game is intended for a general audience aged 13 and over. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us at the address below and we will act promptly.
International transfers
Google may process advertising data on servers outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where that occurs, Google relies on transfer mechanisms approved under the UK and EU GDPR, including Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Because the Game does not collect information that identifies you to us, we are generally unable to locate data about a specific individual; requests concerning advertising data should be directed to Google. You may also lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or with your local supervisory authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised, and material changes will be reflected in the Game's Google Play listing.
